Races and field events running all day, sorted into age brackets so nobody is lining up against a child twice their size. Ribbons for everyone who finishes, and prizes worth actually winning at the top of each bracket.

What happens
Sprints over 60m and 100m, a 400m for the older brackets, a team relay, long jump and a howler-throw for distance. Children can enter as many events as they like — turn up at the track desk, give a name and an age, and get put in the next heat.
Heats run continuously through the day so there is no schedule to build your visit around. Finals are called late afternoon over the PA.
What to bring
- Trainers they can run in — the surface is grass
- A water bottle; refill points are beside the track
- Something warm for standing around between heats
Good to know
- Every finisher gets a ribbon, not just the top three
- Brackets are 5–7, 8–10, 11–13 and 14–16
- The relay needs four children; the desk will make up teams for anyone who arrives without one
