A live performance you sit inside rather than watch. Chairs are set out among the players, so a child hears the second violins from where the second violins hear them.

What happens
The orchestra plays in a ring with the audience seated inside it. Between pieces the conductor takes the players apart section by section so children can hear what each one is actually doing, then puts it back together.
Afterwards the players stay out with their instruments and let children hold them, bow them and get a note out. This is the part most families remember.
What to bring
- Nothing. Come as you are
- A cushion if sitting on the ground for half an hour is not for you
Good to know
- Seats inside the ring are limited and go first-come at each sitting; there is standing room around the outside
- Sittings are announced over the PA about fifteen minutes ahead
- Babies and noisy toddlers are genuinely fine — nobody minds
