True North Learning Collective is a nature-based micro-school in Alachua for homeschooled boys aged 9 and up, running Monday to Thursday 10:00am-3:00pm on a 9-acre wooded homestead with a 3,000 sq ft garden, a developing fruit forest and an adolescent-friendly playground. Mornings are academic enrichment for grades 5-7 - maths and economics focused on problem-solving and real-world application, and language arts integrating social studies and science. Lunch is provided, followed by a daily music/kirtan circle, then afternoon electives for ages 9 and up including STEM labs and engineering challenges. Electives run in six-week project-based blocks, three per week, each ending in a completed project, demonstration or presentation. The site states select electives can be funded via Step Up.
