The Sloyd School offers instruction in traditional hand-tool woodworking using the Sloyd method to elementary and high school students in Jacksonville, Florida, from its Mandarin workshop. Sloyd Class runs through the school year for ages 8-18 at $400 per semester of eight sessions; students make useful and beautiful things while learning the fundamentals of traditional woodworking. The Sloyd method individualises instruction, introduces new tools and skills in careful sequence, teaches through the making of useful projects, and requires finished work to be entirely the student's own.
