The Tallahassee Homeschool String Orchestra (THSO) is a string education program dedicated to giving homeschool string students ensemble experience at every playing level. Classes run Wednesday mornings and are taught by Suzuki-trained instructors through songs, games and repertoire pieces. Poco Players takes ages 3-5 and complete beginners through instrument and bow hold, Twinkle rhythms and basic musicianship; Allegretto Players builds posture, bow control and independent playing for ages 5-8; Preludio continues through Suzuki Book 1 for ages 6-11; and Da Capo Strings takes ages 9-12 with a year or more of experience through Essential Elements for Strings on violin, viola, cello and bass. The program runs recitals, publishes a class schedule and important local concert dates, and provides homework, music, guides and forms for students at home.
