Education at the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum offers guided and self-guided educational student tours that share the maritime history and stories of the region. Nation's Oldest Port school group and day camp programmes introduce K-12 students to the science of light, the archaeology of shipwrecks, 500 years of Florida maritime heritage and the role of the lighthouse in coastal defence. Programmes support Core Curriculum academic standards and incorporate STEAM subjects with the humanities, and there are programmes for scouts and other groups. Guided tours run about an hour, daily between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. by advance reservation. Home school group options are arranged through the Education Department on 904-829-0745 x213, and accommodations for special needs are handled by the Education & Programs Manager.
