Jacksonville School of Music on Beach Boulevard runs 12-week homeschool group music classes back to back on Tuesday mornings. Beginner Piano for ages 6-9 meets 9:00-9:45 and teaches keyboard technique, note reading, melody playing and chords to students with no previous experience. Rhythm Live Music Class for ages 6-12 meets 10:00-10:45 and uses Orff and Kodaly technique with Boomwhackers, bucket drums and rhythm instruments to feel the beat, read rhythms and layer parts cooperatively. Beginner Ukulele for ages 6-12 meets 11:00-11:45 and covers strumming, melody and chords. Class sizes are limited and sessions run across the fall and spring semesters. The school is a Step Up For Students direct provider, so families initiate direct provider payment from their SUFS account rather than paying up front. Director: Virginia Dill.
