About

The Gillespie Museum is Stetson University's Earth science museum in DeLand, holding roughly 20,000 mineral, rock and fossil specimens - one of the oldest and largest collections in the southeastern United States. The adjacent Rinker Environmental Learning Center hosts monthly Science Saturdays where scientists and environmentalists of all ages join hands-on activities in the museum, the RELC and the grounds. A free exploration gallery called The Nature Nook is open during museum hours. The grounds hold the Volusia Sandhill Ecosystem Teaching Landscape, a Native Florida Plant Landscape with interpretive signage, the Hatter Harvest Garden and Stetson Beekeeping hives.
